I’ve seen a few of these sites with the static logo element or the entire side of the design (as in this one). It is a nice effect when done well, as in this design.

I’ve followed the design of this particular website for almost 5 years now, it’s always been top-notch, and this recent (though I don’t know how recent) redesign is nothing short of it’s legacy. Great design here.

This is a great site design, the background is fantastic the layout is fantastic. I like just about everything going on in this design.
