I like the dark background used on this design. It’s not straight out black and it has a slight gradient. The lines add to this layout and help highlight it’s overall simplicity while not making the elements redundant in any way.

I really like the look of the navigation on this website. The dark background is pulled off well and the typography is spot on. I’m not sure if this look really fits a restaurant, it almost looks more fitting for a software company or something, but overall...

I’m a big fan of the “single-page” design when it can be pulled off well. Much like this example, pretty simple, to-the-point but the overall look is elegant enough.
