ConvergeSC Design Presentations

Earlier this year, June 27th (and we’re doing it again in 2010!) we had the honor of being part of pulling together a great conference, ConvergeSC. There were many presentations that day, you should try to check them all out. There were three presentations that specifically relate to the subject matter of unmatchedstyle and we want to share them with you:

First up is a presentation from Matthew Smith (@squaredeye) of SquaredEye: Simple steps from decent to great web design

Web Design is an absolute passion for Matthew and his interest in educating designers is only surpassed by his vigor for learning more about design himself. His talk at ConvergeSC will focus on taking a decent web design and using simple design techniques and tests, change it into a great design that would make a client dance until they were embarrassed.

Next we have Jason Beaird (@jasongraphix) jasongraphix.com covering some great design topics in: Design 4 Developers

If you ask developers how they made something work, they can usually explain in a logical fashion how it is coded up. On the flip side, if you ask designers to tell you how they came up with a particular visual effect, you rarely get a quantifiable answer. The mysterious and seemingly instinctual ability that designers have of inventing creative, unique, and visually pleasing designs is often built up on a solid foundation of practical design theory. In this talk, Jason will explain a few fundamental aspects of classic graphic design theory and give practical advice on how to create visually pleasing user interfaces.

Finally we have Robert Prioleau from Blue Ion (@blueion) covering: Elements of Experience

Do you want your website to just move people along, or maybe take them on a thrill ride? Yea, us too. Great interactive encounters require more than just developing electronic brochures and enabling the latest social widgets. They call for immersive experiences that bring brands to life through story, participation, utility and design. In this discussion Robert will share a model of sorts for great interactive experiences and show examples of it in action.

Make sure and check out all the other great presenters from ConvergeSC: vimeo.com/convergesc and follow us on twitter too @convergesc.
