This is a new site for Travel Oregon’s (the Oregon Tourism Commission) focus on cycling-related travel and tourism in the state. It integrates WordPress and BuddyPress to showcase mountain biking trails, road rides, and cycling events around the state. In addition, it allows people to save rides they want to do and mark rides they’ve done so others can contact them about the ride. Plus, there’s a bunch of cycling-related resources on the site.

The site was concepted, designed and developed by Substance an interactive brand agency in Portland, Oregon.

I think I want to go ride bikes now. From the beautiful photography/maps and refreshing color scheme to the many helpful resources this site will definitely do the job Travel Oregon was hoping for – get people excited about biking in Oregon and offer them a simple way to continue their explorations. The homepage quickly covers all bases of what users might need or be looking for and directs them to their goal. The design is simple but still interesting using a clear hierarchy which helps users scan the information without being overwhelmed.

I can see how the ability to mark trails that a biker has completed and share with others will keep people coming back and using the site which is a great way to develop a positive and active community.
