Digest

http://readdigest.com/

The Digest is a beautifully editorial site that displays a tight print design sensibility. It’s a site that takes the idea of a magazine and translates the best of that medium to the web. The pages are fairly heavy at 4-5 MB, but the lush photography is largely worth the wait. I took a minute to crack open the developer tools in Chrome and loaded the page at various sizes. At mobile sizes, the site is loading considerably less data ( less that 1 MB ), so the problems associated with loading large images on small devices have been handled, at least for browsers that won’t double load the images.

The responsive breakpoints are natural and logical and the content is clearly laid out to support smaller viewports.
