CSSOff Update #3

Welcome to update #3!

Sorry about the lack of an update last week, those of you not in the US may or may not know it was a holiday here for us so we took time to spend with our families and stuff.

Judging is progressing well, it’s definitely slow going as we want to make sure and give each entry a good level of attention. We are currently about 1/5 of the way through this first round of scoring, but I think it’s going to speed up considerably as we work the bugs out of getting everything setup properly to view all these entries.

File Sizes

One interesting thing that’s come out of the review so far is file sizes on the entries. There are some that are fairly large like 15% or so in the 5MB+ range and some that are very small like 20% or so that are 1MB or under, with the remainder ranging in between these sizes. Having no preconceived ideas as to what we’d be getting in terms of the entries’ file sizes this is just interesting to me to see the full spectrum of sizes and differences in file preparation. The fact that it’s so varied alone is something to investigate. We’re really excited as we’re going through each one individually to try to draw some conclusions.

T-Shirt Orders

We’ve ordered the shirts too, sales closed on Nov 18th and the artwork has been proofed and is being produced as this updates goes out. If it all goes according to plan, we’ll be shipping them out to you guys that ordered them in the next 2-3 weeks.

What about the amount of data sent to client when the page loads? Can we get a histogram? 😛

Totally, we have plans to work up a complete view of data we capture once done.

In my opinion the file size is about how much is the site responsive. Because of big images…maybe.
My entry is about 2.5MB so i am in the middle ; ).
