Here’s another site that’s riffing (in this case, I’ll say riffing instead of ‘ripping’) on Coverflow. I think this site works well, but like Giant‘s website, it suffers from being a bit heavy on the initial load. And while you might expect that from an ad agency’s site, from a university site that has to take into account all types of user, they may be losing some users because of that. That said, it is well designed and is successful at giving an old university a more modern look while retaining some kind of classicism.

Wow. Their last site was good. This is phenomenal. ND consistently puts out the best sites in higher education. I’m guessing much of their success is due to the fact that they have their own independent “Web Group” and not the dysfunctional marketing vs. IT relationship that so many of us web professionals have to deal with.

Not bad, but the handling of the top drop down sections when you turn JS off needs to be revisited as it drops the design and puts the university’s logo a lot closer to the scroll.

Good use of Flash, I agree the loading time is a bit long, but I have a feeling ND isn’t really interested in students (and their parent’s checkbooks) who aren’t browsing with broadband.
