Very original looking portfolio website. I love the illustration and the hand-made feel of the graphics. I do wish there was more detail in the gallery section, not just lightbox style pop-ups though.

We reviewed this website in Episode 8 of the unmatchedstyle video podcast.

The look of this site feels unique to me so I like the design and overall layout except for the few problems you pointed out in the podcast (the lightbox doesn’t work well here, and some of the type is too hard to read). I especially like the hand-crafted aesthetic. It feels authentic and accessible.

As a user, my biggest issue is some of the content. The tag “Making the Internet pretty, one site at a time” is unappealing to me and suggests good design is all about being pretty, not about being strategic or accomplishing goals. That’s always a major frustration for me.

Additionally, the section about price just feels unseemly and, in light of his comment about making the Internet pretty, frustrating. How can top-of-the-line design be about making sites pretty?

Finally, comparing your work to competitors’ work with regard only to cost suggests that all you truly have to offer is a smaller price tag. In my mind, cost should never be the deciding factor in choosing who does your Website. It should be about value–an idea he doesn’t discuss.
