Google Science Fair

This is a cool site and cause from Google – it’s the Google Science Fair.

We’ve seen so many flat sites (svgs, illustrations, general design) in the past year, many trying to take off from Google’s lead (Material Design), that it’s interesting that this is a more textured site from Google. Great background images, and a really nice block structure to the pages, pull you into a not too distant yesteryear / blueprint feel.

I tried out their Idea Springboard – which is a pretty awesome tool in itself (visual, box-style, Google search results), based on your input. I tried Soccer, Inventions, and Memory first (image below) – then I tried Zombies, Inventions, and Dry Rot – great results on each (especially the search return of “How Zombies Work”).
