Episode 37 – Blissfully Aware, Village

This week we talk about Blissfully Aware, Joshua Lane’s personal site, and vllg.com, the site of font foundry Village.

We loved Blissfully Aware, the @font-face use is pretty awesome too. The visual rhythm and typography of the site are very solid, and the textures and overall feel of the site is top-notch. I didn’t like the way the comments form was setup in positioning with the comments. Overall though we loved it.

The Village site looks good too, particularly the sub pages are very well designed. Displaying the design samples using the typefaces and the strong grid look nice. We weren’t too hip on the initial loading of the home page, with the elements that are interactive and draqgable, we really loved the sub page layouts and thought the home page could greatly benefit from a similar type approach. We do like the site and the typefaces this foundry produces are great!
