Valen Designs is the valid standards based portfolio/blog of Derek Herman. The web site sports hand coded semantic CSS/XHTML 1.0 strict and was built on a Mac (PC sucks).
This is a very thorough, very pixel perfect and detail oriented website design. It’s very simple and minimal at first glance but as you spend time on it you’ll see that there’s a great deal of attention spent to the little details.

I think Mac sucks not PC….
Also the CSS used is really not as good as one could expect. So many clearfix…. its what i call lazy coding that results in excessive divs.
Good in design but the icons look dated. Its does not seem like a 2009 website.
Again the cliche PC sucks…. Do we ever hear a PC web designer saying MAC sucks when presenting its work? MAC users look like children with a favourite toy….
Its a good looking site but…. i was expecting more. You kind of get tired after a while. Bad choice of colours i guess.
Are you all angry cause you have to work on a Windows computer?
It’s funny that you are both slamming my web site but not linking back to your own. Do you even have a site or are you so ashamed of it that you left the link out?
PC does suck by the way. I own 4 computers and 3 of them are widblows trash. My Mac is faster and more powerful than any Windows machine I have ever used. And for the record, I didn’t say that PC sucks on my web site, I simply stated what computer and software I used to build it.

Let’s not let this turn into a Mac vs. PC thing, that’s terribly played out. Also, try to keep your comments constructive, if you don’t like something please explain why you don’t like it or offer a suggestion for an alternative way of doing it.

Derek, your website looks very cool, clean, typography is very nice, colors are lovely with a cold color scheme it’s great to look at, should I continue? 😛
Regarding the mac/windows thing, my field is Linux, and I totally agree, windows sucks big time (along with IE).
