I think Wishlistr has recently re-designed… I could be wrong. But I still enjoyed “discovering” this website design. I always like when a designer can utilize illustration in their designs and this one is quite nice. It’s full of little details and good tight design. The signup form is really well done too.
lol, e-velocity? dunno man, pretty unimaginative name. Not to mention the flat design.
Reinvention of the wheel isn’t necessary in design – when the little things are done so well. The pop-up screen shot window as an example – the look is of someone putting the time necessary into a overall concept. Good stuff!
Seems like the same can be said of this design Trevor, “flat, bare, simple easy to use and has still managed to get showcased”…
It’s also pretty obvious to me it’s a web app, even a wish list app.
Trevor: What do you mean with 42 html errors? Checking the site in W3C’s Markup Validation Service reports “Valid XHTML 1.0 Strict … (see http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wishlistr.com%2F)
Hi! Thanks for featuring our site. And yes, we did a minor redesign a few months back.
Trevor: You have a point regarding the illustration, we’re not completely happy with it ourselves. We like the look of it and we think it’s a bit more interesting and fun than just a simple screenshot. But like you say, the connection between the character and the app might not be very clear. We’ll see how long it stays, we’re looking for a better solution.
I don’t know where you’re getting the 42 validation errors from though. I get 0 errors when I check the page in W3C’s validator.
Jimmy, Wishlistr
I get 0 errors as well too. Most of the errors before were the ampersands and premature closing of 2 div’s. I agree, screenshots are pretty bland as well.
Just curious; why do you need an image there? Looks like you have videos and screenshots covered within the content, I think just the text would be fine. Of course, using the width would look good. That header font is really nice so I highly doubt removing the image all together would take away from the design at all. All the friendliness and usefulness of the site is in the content.
Just a suggestion.
Trevor
Yeah.I like it especially because you must be the only site to actually pull a cartoon off in a design in the last 5 years, while making it look good
What font is that used on the Block Titles? Beautiful Font! +1 points to anyone who figures it out!
