MSNBC story pages

msnbc

MSNBC has redesigned and relaunched their story page design. Really focusing more on reader engagement than simple page views. There’s so much going on in these pages it’s overwhelming for sure. I do like the little icons that hover over on the right hand side of the page so you can anchor down to the section of the page you want. Nice touch for heavy content like this.

I really like this, I normally pull my hair out when I encounter an article I want to read on a “news” website and they do that “pageination” thing just to drive up page views for their advertisers. Nothing takes me out of a good read than “next page”…

There’s a great post over on mikeindustries.com about this, the choice to focus on engagement over page views. Really great stuff to think about.
